Random Fate (published in Halifax)
In far off land, someone you never met
While casino player spins roulette
Window frost and snowflake lace
Freckle count on your child’s face
Deck of cards, pair of dice
Will a fickle kid be naughty or nice
These have in common something key
They are all random, so nobody
Can see the end before it’s here
Not even an oracle or a seer
Not everything is random though
With certain stuff, you just know
A caring person, a loving mate
Once in a while, it’s up to fate

Have you ever seen, the all-seeing eye
Have you ever been, a bird in the sky
Have you ever known, the purest kind of love
Have you ever grown, and looked down from above
Once you do these things, nothing will look the same
Even all the kings, could not defeat this game
The only one who did, you will never guess
A humble little kid, teeming with kindness
Accepting of it all, no matter how bizarre
No ego trip to fall, fellowship never far
